Are SEO Services Worth It?

Every once in a while, someone comes up with this question — are SEO services worth it? The short(and confusing) answer is: it depends!

In general, when we talk about SEO, we talk about organic growth, sales and brand awareness — basically, if you want to make money fast, you won't rely on SEO, but on PPC (ads).

Who Needs SEO Services?

Any professional, business and service provider who wants an online presence needs SEO. Do you own a dropshipping business? Then you need SEO. The same stands for flower shops, coaches, trainers, photographers, makeup artists, everything. If you want your business to stand out and grow organically, then this is the way to go.

Something that's often overlooked is the fact that SEO doesn't work instantly and it's not that easy. It's perfectly fine if you want to do it yourself instead of hiring an expensive team of professionals, but you need some sort of guidance. The information available online is often incomplete and doesn't apply everywhere.

You get keywords and competitor analysis, then you need to figure out a structure for your website, pages and blogs, learn how HTML elements work, image optimization and when you think everything is ready, one of your competitors comes and gets that first SERP position. I know, I've seen it happening many times. It's a constant effort and you need someone to guide you through the process.

Are SEO Services Worth It?

There's a yes and a no to this question:

  • Yes, SEO services are worth it if you have a big business, a decent budget and you need someone to take care of these things instead of you. This way, you won't have to stress about anything, and the professional you hire will have to deal with audits, research and organic growth.
  • No, SEO services are not worth it if you're a small business. Instead, you can go for a consultant to help you understand how it works and tell you exactly what you need to optimize. And no, cheap SEO services are not a thing — I met many "professionals" learning on their clients' money and that's simply unethical and a complete waste of time and money.

When Should You Hire a Consultant?

If you want to get a head start, you need to get a consultant the moment you set up your website. This way, they'll guide you through the process of setting it up, choosing a website builder, and helping you analyze and understand your competition — especially if you've never heard of SEO before and have no idea where to start.

It's not a problem if you hire a consultant after you're already set up and established. Nowadays, people use all kinds of methods to get in the first places – from keyword stuffing, to faking reviews and sending the worst backlinks to the competitors (and yes, I've seen it happen).

My advice is to book a consultancy session and see how your business is doing and what we can do to improve it.
